Authentic Antique Arms | Revolvers

Unusually Cased American Civil War Remington

$4250

A genuine, American Civil War issued, Remington, new model army, .44 calibre, six shot percussion revolver presented in an antique writing case. While the case is antique, parts of it have been modified to accommodate the Remington.

The case measures 20” x 10” x 6” (that is inches for those collectors born after 1966) and comes with some associated accoutrements.

The standard 8 inch, octagonal barrel has a good bore and the three line address is mostly still visible. Sub inspector’s marks of ‘W’, ‘J’ and ‘P’ are found on various parts of the revolver and the final inspector’s cartouche is clear on the left grip.

Note that the grips have been varnished with chips out of the toe and heel of the right side.

The serial number of 91971 puts the revolver’s manufacture around August 1864. The action is in good working order.

A good example of a genuine, American Civil War, cavalry pistol housed in an unusual casing.
