Spurious H Nock Holster Pistol c1800

$3800

An interesting and unusual English, flintlock holster pistol that appears to have been made for a foreign market. While the stock is in the style of the renowned duelling pistol maker Wogdon and the trigger guard is typically English the design of the brass barrel and the brass lock plate are not.

The .69 calibre, round, smoothbore, sighted, slightly swamped, brass barrel measures 12 inches and the whole pistol measures 17 ½ inches. The barrel is engraved but no English proofs are visible.

The flat brass lock plate is lightly engraved with the spurious name ‘H NOCK’. The action is in working order.

The walnut stock has had numerous repairs, see photos.

The shape and length of the stock, the trigger guard and the lock’s side screws strongly suggest that this pistol may have started its life as a Wogdon duelling pistol.
