Spanish Miquelet Coat Pistol, Ivory tipped Rammer
An attractive, Spanish, miquelet coat pistol in good condition. The pistol, from an unknown maker, dates from around 1770.
The .65 caliber, smoothbore, multi-faceted barrel measure about 5 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring 10 inches.
The barrel has clear silver inlaid decoration on the flats up to the chiselled girdle with a gold leaf barrel maker’s mark at the breech.
The miquelet lock mechanism is in working order but very stiff.
The vacant wrist echelon is of a white metal and the rest of the furniture is a mixture of brass and white metal. See photos.
The carved walnut stock is in good condition with some slight old repair near the butt.
The ivory tipped rammer is too short for the pistol and may be a later replacement.
