Spanish Gentleman’s Travelling Pistol c1760

Offered here is a Spanish gentleman’s, travelling pistol made in Barcelona around 1760 or before by Gio Logia. Gio is listed as operating in Barcelona from 1750 to 1760.

The .62 caliber, round, smoothbore, barrel with an octagonal, banded breech, measures 7 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring just under 13 inches.

There is a deep, gold foil covered, Barcelona acceptance stamp, surrounded by eight groups of four gold dots forward of the breech.

The plane flat lock is engraved ‘G M LOGIA’. The action is stiff but still functions.

The engraved brass furniture, including the vacant wrist, echelon is in good condition as is the relief carved, full-length, walnut stock.

The rammer appears original to the pistol though it appears that it once had a worm.
