A fine quality large and solid six shot pepper box made by the father and son team of Edward and William Bond of Cornhill, London.
The .40 calibre barrel cluster measures 3 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring just over 8 inches.
The frame, bar hammer, trigger guard and butt cap with lid attached are all finely engraved with foliate patterns. Even the barrel retaining screw and frame screws are engraved.
The barrel tang has the clear three line engraving ‘E & W BOND / CORNHILL / LONDON. The barrel cluster also has very clear London proofs.
The finely checked grip with a vacant echelon is in very good condition.
The walnut grip has fine checkering that shows some slight wear. There is a vacant the shield shaped echelon and cap box on the butt.
The action is in good working order.
All in all a good quality large pepperbox from a maker with a reputation for quality work.
