Massive Miquelet Double Barrel Pistol c1750

$15000
A massive and heavy Spanish double barrel miquelet pistol dating from the mid 18th century. The pistol is in excellent condition and shows a high degree of craftmanship. It may have been a special order as the barrels are not in the usual Spanish style.
The unsighted, smoothbore .72 caliber measures just over 10 inches while the whole pistol measures just under 17 inches. The barrels also have gold touch-holes but bear no barrel makers marks.
The locks are in very good condition. The tails and outside edges of the flash pans and frizzens are steel chiseled. The cocks, frizzen and related components are also steel chiseled. Each lock also has a Punzon or punch mark with the letters ‘ARA / NA‘.
The locks are in excellent working order.
The trigger guard has swirling, chiseled patterns and the butt cap has floral patterns.
The carved full-length stock is in very good condition with few handling marks.
The rammer appears to be original to the pistol.
This is a very impressive piece that was made to intimidate, especially if you where on the wrong end of it.
