Massive 5 Shot Dragoon Sized Pepperbox c1860

A really massive wrist breaker of a pepperbox made around 1860 or before by Phillip Hast, 118 High Street, Colchester.
The 5 shot barrel cluster with London proofs, measures 5 ¾ inches with musket bore chambers of .577 calibre. Over all the pistol measure around 11 ½ inches.
The frame and bar hammer are folate engraved with ‘P HAST / COLCHESTER’ appearing on the left side. The action is in good working order with the added feature of a sliding safety.
The finely checked walnut grip with vacant echelon is in very good condition.
This massive pepperbox comes with its original mahogany case with the unusual lining of red pig skin. All the accessories are present and appear original to the pistol. Including the 24 bore bullet mould.
