French Model Chasseurs Heavy Carbine c1855

$2250

A French model, Chasseurs, heavy percussion carbine made in ‘Napoli’. The carbine is dated 1855 and in very good condition.

The heavy, round with heavy octagonal breech, rifled, .69 caliber barrel measures 34 ¼ inches with the whole carbine measuring 49 inches.

The 1855 dated barrel, features a front sight, bayonet side bar and rear ladder sights, marked up to 1,000 meters. There is some pitting in the bore but the rifling is still very defined.

The iron butt plate, trigger guard, rammer and original sling swivels are all in very good condition as are the spring retained brass, barrel bands. There are various inspection marks throughout the carbine. Unit markings 7.B.C / 8.C.61’ are on the butt tang and ‘10.B. C. 3. C. 19’ on the rammer. Note, a hole has been drilled in the rammer cup, see photos.

For a military long arm, the walnut stock is in very good condition. The cheek cut out has what seems to be a store keepers mark and date of 1856.
