French Model AN IX Cavalry Pistol c1810

A genuine Napoleonic era, model AN IX, French Cavalry pistol made in 1810.

The unsighted .70 calibre, smoothbore barrel measures 7 inches while the whole pistol measures 13 ½ inches. The barrel is stamped ‘1810’ with an inspection mark and the tang marked ‘MLE AN9’.

The lock plate is marked ‘Mde imp le St etienne‘, and the action is in good strong working order.

The regulation, brass furniture and flash pan are all in good condition and carry various inspection marks.

The three-quarter length, walnut stock is in very good condition with the expected handling marks from military usage. The stock makers name ‘DUPINN’ is behind the lock screw. The rammer is original to the pistol.

Over all, a very good example of a genuine French, Napoleonic era flintlock cavalry pistol.
