French Gendarmerie Military Police Model 1842

An authentic Model 1842 French Gendarmerie Military Police percussion pistol made in 1847 from the Imperial arsenal at Mutzig in France.
The smooth bore .62 calibre round barrel measures 5 inches and over all the pistol measures around 10 inches.
The lock plate is marked ‘Mre Rle de Mutzig’. The barrel tang in marked with the model date of 1842 and the barrel marked 1847 for the year of manufacture. Various other inspection stamps are found on the barrel, trigger guard and rammer.
The walnut stock is in good condition and the pistol is in good working order.
All the metal parts show some ware that is consistent with use.
