French Model 1822 conversion Cavalry Pistol #131
The French adopted the percussion ignition system in 1840 and soon started converting existing arms. This is one of them.
The .69 caliber, smoothbore, tapering barrel with bulbous front sight measures 7 ¾ inches with the whole pistol measuring 13 ¾ inches. Some remnants of dates and proofs still remain on the barrel
The manufacturing arsenal’s details ‘Mre Rle / de Tulle’ are clearly visible on the lock. The action is in very good working order.
The regulation brass furniture with various inspection marks, is in good condition. Note that the head of one side plate retaining screw is missing.
The walnut stock has been revarnished at some stage but is still in a good used condition. See photos. The pistol also has the correct powder measure / rammer for this model.
