French Flintlock Double Barrel Pistols c1780

$9000

A very original pair of unsigned, French, double barrel travelling pistols made around 1780.

The .47 caliber, round, smoothbore, tapering and sighted barrels measure 5 inches with the pistols measuring 10 inches each. There is still a large amount of gold wash and fading, original finish on each pistol.

The flat locks have a small amount of engraving behind each cock. The right-hand cock on one pistol is loose and both left hand cocks are stuck at rest.

The iron furniture with engraved trigger guards and long eared pommels are in good condition.

The carved walnut stocks are in good condition with some light handling marks. The horn tipped rammers are original to the pistols.

All in all a very reasonable pair of French, double barrel, flintlock pistols dating back to the French revolutionary period.
