Extra Long Percussion Pistol c1840

An unusually long barrelled, single shot, box lock, percussion pistol marked ‘H NOCK’. The name is spurious, Mr H Nock passed away well before the arrival of the percussion ignition system.

The .35 caliber, octagonal to round, screw-off, smoothbore barrel measures 5 ¾ inches with the whole pistol measuring 9 ¾ inches.

The frame is marked “H NOCK’. The barrel is marked ‘LONDON’ and has one Birmingham proof mark. Next to the proof mark is a state-based registration number of ‘004928’.

The action holds both full and half cock but needs help to release.

The finely checked, bulbous, walnut grip is in solid condition with the usual signs of use and time.
