Edinburgh Marked Musket Bore Officers Pistol

$3550

A very heavy and solid pistol that was made around 1810 and later converted to percussion by a Scottish gunsmith.

The sighted, octagonal, .75 calibre barrel measures 8 inches while the whole pistol measures about 13 ½ inches. At its thinnest section the heavy barrel has a wall thickness of 4.4mm. The top flat is engraved ‘EDINBURGH’.

The flat, stepped lock with working sliding safety is engraved ‘INo THOMSON’. The original details on the lock would have been removed at conversion. The conversion is a well-executed drum and nipple conversion.

The brass rammer pipes and trigger guard are engraved with the guard having a pineapple finial.

The full-length stock is in very good condition with very few handling marks. The original steel rammer is with the pistol.

This pistol is absolutely brutal and it would have taken some strength to hold it while firing a musket ball
