Early 19th Century French Travelling Pistol

$2900

A French, flintlock, travelling pistol in the standard early 19th century style that includes the sharply curved grip and flat butt. There are no makers details evident.

The Octagonal to round, .50 caliber, smoothbore barrel with front sight measures 6 ¾ inches while the whole pistol measures 12 inches.

The plain, unmarked, lock features a swan necked cock and bridled flash pan. The action does not hold full cock.

The brass furniture is in good condition.

The walnut stock, with fine chequering and single strand silver wiring, is in fair condition. There is some slight bruising on the grip, impact marks on the spine of the grip and a crack and small loss, forward of the lock.

The rammer appears to be original to the pistol.
