Cased Pair of Pistols by Williams & Powell c1850

$8000
A pair of highly polished, coat pistols presented in a period casing with accessories, made around 1850. Williams & Powell are recorded as gunmakers in Liverpool from 1844 to 1892.
The .52 calibre, octagonal barrels measure just over 4 ½ inches while the pistols measure around 9 inches. Both barrels have Birmingham proofs and are engraved ‘WILLIAMS & POWELL LIVERPOOL’ with simple foliate engraving near the breech. Swivel rammers are attached under the barrels.
Foliate engraving is also found on all the other metal parts apart from the rammer assembly.
Both pistols are in good working order.
The flared walnut grips, with fine checkering and vacant echelons, are in a very good condition with only minor bruising. There is a minor chip at the edge of one grip’s heel. See photos.
The pistols come in, what appears to be, their original case that is partitioned and lined in now faded, green baize. Period accessories are included.
All in all a very attractive cased pair.
Sold as a collector item only.
