Cased 3rd Model Tranter Double Trigger Pocket
For sale here is a scarce, cased 3rd Model Tranter, five shot, 120 Bore percussion, pocket revolver made around 1855 in excellent condition.
The octagonal barrel measures 3 ¾ inches with the whole revolver measuring 8 ½ inches. There is no retailer’s name engraved on the barrel.
English proofs appear on the cylinder and the serial number ‘9915 T’ appears on the right side of the frame. The rammer is marked with an arched two-line ‘W TRANTER’S / PATENT’.
While the main spring is strong, the action needs attention as it will not reach hammer release.
The finely chequered, walnut grip is in good condition with some minor handling marks.
The revolver comes in an English, mahogany case with a full complement of accessories. These include an original Dixson & Sons powder flask and Tranter’s Patent 120 bore bullet mould. The ‘Lubricating Bullets’ label appears to be modern reproduction.
The case has no trade label nor key.
Over-all this is a very sharp outfit that displays very well.
