Belgium Travelling Percussion Pistol c1820

$1995

A nice Belgium percussion travelling pistol, modelled on the French Empire style officer’s percussion pistol of 1816. This pistol was originally made as a flintlock around 1820 and later converted to percussion.

The .57 caliber, octagonal, smoothbore barrel with front and rear sight measures 5 ½ inches while the whole pistol measures just over 10 inches.

The lock, trigger guard, barrel tang and butt cap all have some form of engraving, including the lock screws.

The action is in good working order.

The walnut half stock with checked grip is in good solid order but does show a repair to the left side. See photos.

The rammer is original to the pistol.

All in all a solid example of the Belgium gunmakers’ art.
