Belgium Proofed Lepage Pistol c1840
An as found, attic condition, a large percussion pistol from the renowned French maker Lepage of Paris. The pistol was made around 1840.
The .64 caliber, octagonal, rifled and sighted, Damascus barrel measures 9 ½ inches with the whole pistol measuring 15 ½ inches. The barrel has a Liege proof mark and the top flat is engraved ‘Lepage a Paris’.
The lock, hammer, spur trigger guard and butt cap all have foliate engraving. The lock is in good working order.
The walnut half-stock features a fluted grip and a fore end with a geometric carving. Note there is a noticeable crack in front of the lock, see photos.
