Brooklyn Bridge Belgium Colt Copy c1870 – 80

$0

A must have oddity for any Colt collector.

These knock off ‘brevete’ Colts feature a suspension bridge cylinder scene which American collectors have interpreted to mean the Brooklyn Bridge in New York city. There is no definitive proof either way but the name has stuck.

The .35 caliber, octagonal barrel measures 4 inches with the whole revolver measuring 9 ½ inches.

The cylinder scene features a suspension bridge carrying with a steam train and various boats in the water. The revolver has Belgium proofs and inspector’s marks as well as fraudulent copies of British proofs.

The barrel and frame have the faded number 6494 and the words ‘PATENT SYSTEM’ appears on the left side of the frame.

The action is seriously at fault. The right grip panel is walnut and the left seems to be made of some unknow composite material.
