Martini Henry Mk IV Series B
Offered here is a very good Enfield, MK IV, B series, long lever, Martini Henry rifle dated 1887 from the Geoff Casselden Collection. The rifle includes an original sling and leather hand guard.
Originally made as a .402 Enfield Martini, it was converted to the MK IV Martini Henry in .450/557 caliber for service in India.
The .450/577 caliber barrel measures 32 inches with the whole rifle measuring 49 inches.
The action is clearly marked with the Royal VR cypher over ‘ENFIELD / 1887 / IV. / I.’. The falling block action is in excellent working order.
The regulation furniture with acceptance and War Department marks, is in very good condition.
The stock is also in very good used condition with various arsenal marks, rondels and numbers. The most interesting of these is a very, very faint ‘1P’ next to the issue number ‘3914’, which stands for the 1st Punjab Infantry.
Sold as a collectable only.
