London Half Stocked Pistols by Walker, c1850
An excellent pair of mid 19th half stocked, London percussion travelling pistols marked Walker.
The .64 calibre, smoothbore, sighted, octagonal barrels measure 8 inches. Each pistol measures 13 inches. The barrels have an untouched blue to plum patina with very good bores and the top flats have ‘LONDON’ inlaid with gold.
The back action locks marked ‘WALKER’, have clear acanthus foliate engraving and still retain faint case colours, as does the bolted safety. The hammer and retaining screws are also engraved.
The action on both locks is in excellent working order.
The spurred trigger guards, with pineapple finals, are engraved and retain over 90% of their original fired blue finish.
The walnut stocks, with German silver fore-end caps, are in good condition with some light handling marks. The grips are finely chequered and capped with engraved steel caps that still retain some case colour.
The brass tipped rammers are original to the pistols with one rammer having a sheathed worm.
Over-all an excellent pair of travelling pistols in a sharp condition.
