Unusual Brass Barrel Coat Pistol by W Powell

A very unusual brass barrelled flintlock made by William Powell of Birmingham. William Powell company commenced business in Birmingham in 1812 and the company is still in business today.
The hexagonal to round barrel brass .57 calibre barrel measures 5 ¼ inches. The top of the barrel is deeply struck with ‘WILIIAM POWELL’ ‘BIRMINGHAM’ along with commercial Birmingham proofs and the barrel makers mark ‘IC’.
The lock is also marked ‘WILLIAM / POWELL’ with sparse engraving on the tail and featuring a roller frizzen and swan neck cock.
The action is in very good working order.
The furniture is in brass with a most unusual bird of prey butt. May have been a special order
The walnut stock is in good condition and the rammer appears original to the pistol.
