Unmarked French 1763 Modelled Naval Pistol

A Naval flintlock pistol by and unknown maker modelled on the French 1763 cavalry pistol. The 1763 cavalry pistol has iron furniture while the naval version has brass, including the pan.
The .75 calibre iron round smoothbore barrel measures 21.5 cm while the whole pistol measures 37 cm. The cavalry pistols were slightly larger measuring 41 cm with a 23 cm barrel.
The plain rounded lock is unmarked and the action is very hesitant. Only sometimes releasing for full cock. The rammer is stuck fast.
The furniture consists of brass beaked butt cap, trigger guard, flask pan and sighted nose cap.
Except for a chip missing from behind the locks tail the stock is in solid condition.
Overall an attractive pistol that displays well with its brass work.
