Remington-Smoot No.2 Pocket Revolver sn 332

A very nice untouched 5 shot Remington Smoot No. 2, .30 calibre rimfire pocket revolver in original condition manufactured around 1875.
William S Smoot, an ex-ordnance officer working for Remington developed a design that incorporated the frame, barrel and ejector housing in one piece. The patent for this was issued in 1873.
The barrel measures 2 ¾ inches and is clearly marked ‘E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION.N.Y. PAT. W. S. SMOOT. OCT.21.1873’. The whole revolver measures 6 ½ inches.
The number ‘332’, which I am assuming is the serial number, is found under the left side hard rubber grip.
The action is in perfect working order.
The majority of the thick nickel plating is present with some corrosion now present. See photos. The grips are in very good condition.
Overall, a sturdy well-constructed pocket revolver that offered stiff competition to the Colts of the time.
Sold as a collector item only.
