Rare American Holster Pistol Marked H E Leman

A large and heavy holster pistol bearing the name of a renowned Pennsylvania gun maker Henry E Leman (1812 – 1887). The pistol is unusual in that Leman was more noted for his long arms rather than pistols.
The very thick octagonal barrel measures 9 inches with the whole arm measuring around 15 ½ inches. The barrel appears to come from a target rifle, note the brass insert where the original rifle sight was. This suggests that it may have been converted from a rifle by another gunsmith in its working life.
The flat sparsely engraved lock is marked ‘H E LEMAN / LANCASTER PA’.
The strong action is in good working order.
The brass furniture and full length stock are both in good condition.
