Barbar Flintlock with Silver wire inlay to grip

An attractive box lock brass barrel and frame flintlock pistol dating from around 1770 by a famous family of gunsmiths.
The pistol measures 8 ½ inches with a .44 Cal 2 ½ inch two stage screw of cannon barrel.
The right side of the frame is marked ‘LONDON’ while the left is marked ‘BARBAR’.
The screw off barrel and breech are marked ‘1’. There are also old London view and proof marks and the Barbar barrel maker’s mark of ‘IB’ as well.
The slab sided walnut grip still have most of its fine silver wire decoration except for the butt (see photos).
The action works as intended.
Overall a very nice example of the gun makers art from a family that got its start when the Huguenot Louise Barbar fled the persecution of Louis XIV around 1685.
