W Ketland Box-lock Pocket Pistol C1805


William Ketland was part of the Ketland family of gun makers from Birmingham and traded under ‘W Ketland’ from 1802 to 1807.
The family is noted as being one of the first Birmingham gun makers to compete on fine workmanship with London makers
The screw off barrel is .42 Cal and 2.5 inches in length with the pistol measuring 7 inches overall.
The slab grip is in a good condition with no shrinkage or separation at the frame junction.
The frame is lightly marked ‘W / KETLAND’ and ‘LONDON’. The ‘Ketland’ is very hard to read. London proofs are clear.
The action is in very good working order.
The pistol is mostly free of corrosion with sharp edges.
The overall this pistol is in a very good condition, especially when compared to some of the other box-lock you see from time to time.
