French Holster Pistol by B Pistor of Cassel c1780

An elegant French holster pistol by B Pistor of Cassel that dates to around 1780.
The sighted .57 calibre flat topped round barrel measures 8 ¾ inches while the whole pistol measures 14 ½ inches. The top flat has the make’s details ‘B. PISTOR CASSEL’, the B probably stands for Bernhard.
The lock, barrel and very ornate metal work are all in good condition with only a small chip out of the side plate centre screw. The action is in good working order with a very strong spring action.
Except for a few old worm holes the raised relief carving on the stock is also in good condition. The rammer appears to be an old replacement.
Sold as a collector item only.
