Double Barrel Pistol by Joseph Bourne c 1850

A fine quality and large double barreled percussion pistol in an excellent original condition by the maker Joseph Bourne.
The Birmingham proofed .60 calibre barrels measure 5 inches with the whole pistol measuring 10 inches. The centre rib contains a brass pin front sight and is engraved ‘JOSEPH BOURNE’.
The back action locks, hammers, trigger guard and butt cap with percussion cap compartment are all finely engraved. The hammer and tang screws as well as the swivel rammer head are also engraved.
The action is in very good working order.
The oiled walnut checked grip is in very good condition with a vacant echelon.
The barrels are in a very good condition and the other metal parts retain much of their original charcoal fired blue finish.
Overall this is a very fine example from Joseph Bourne who has premises in both London and Birmingham from 1840 to 1883.
