Double Barrel Flintlock by Brion of Paris c1745

A large half stocked double barrel flintlock travelling pistol in a very good condition made by Brion of Paris around 1745. Joseph Etienne Brion is recoded as being active in France between 1740 to 1747.
The .60 caliber smoothbore barrels measure almost 9 ¾ inches and overall the pistol measures 16 ½ inches. The barrels have strong traces of gold leaf around the breech, front sight and center rib. ‘BRION PARIS’ is on the rib in gold leaf.
Both locks are clearly engraved ‘BRION PARIS’. Both top jaws, cocks, cock screws, battery screws, lock plate screws, pans and stepped locks are all engraved.
Both locks are in good working order.
The butt cap, trigger guard, trigger guard final, barrel tang and tang screw and rammer pipe and screw are all engraved.
The carved walnut half stock is in a very good and solid original condition with the usual handling marks.
Overall an excellent double barrel flintlock pistol in remarkable condition considering its age.
