An excellent Colt 3rd Model ‘Thuer’ Deringer in .41 Rimfire short.
The third model Deringer was designed by Colt employee F. Alexander Thuer and went into production in 1870. Production ceased in 1912 with some 47,000 units made.
This pistol has standard features of 2 ½ inch sideways pivoting barrel, walnut grips and a sloping hammer.
The top of the barrel is marked ‘COLT’ and the left side of the frame is marked ’41 CAL’. The serial number 5675 is stamped on the frame under the grips which are also hand numbered to the pistol.
The action is in perfect working order.
Both the barrel and frame are nickeled with 98% of the plate remaining and barrel pivot and grip screws still have bluing.
The grips also retain most of their original varnish.
The serial number 5675 puts this pistol’s manufacture between 1870 to 1875.
