Civil War era 6 Shot Colt Pocket

A better than very good condition, special order New York addressed 6 shot Colt pocket percussion revolver. Serial number 247824.
The 5 inch .31 caliber octagonal barrel is marked ‘ADDRESS COL SAMLCOLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA’. The barrel also has the rarely encountered factory option of and dovetailed front sight.
The roll engraved stagecoach hold up cylinder scene is extremely clear, 90% plus, with some light wear and scattered oxidation, There is some pinpricking to the front of the cylinder from firing. The nipples are all original and in good condition with signs of use. The bore is in good condition with some slight scattered pitting.
Numbers are all matching except for the loading leaver which is numbered ‘1’. This appears to be a Colt factory provided replacement and not a reproduction. In addition, the grips have an inventory number ‘2267’ stamped on both sides possibly indicating ownership by a large organisation such a police force.
The grips are in good condition with some handling marks and about 70% of their original varnish remaining. There is still some of the thin silvering remaining on the trigger guard.
This revolver is very crisp and sharp throughout with mixture of 10% to 30% original bluing and case coloring throughout the revolver.
Needless to say, the action is in excellent order.
As a bonus there is also a very well made case that is superior to what’s on offer these days along with a repo cap tin and period oil bottle.
Overall a fairly high condition Colt pocket with a scarce 5 inch barrel and a one line New York address.
